COVID-19 UPDATE - SCHOOL CLOSURE

In view of the current situation and after a lot of consideration I have made the difficult decision to close the ballet school temporarily as of Monday, 16 March 2020.

We have over 30 classes a week with an age range from 18 months to age 86 with over 300 people coming to class. With all the parents, siblings, grandparents etc our numbers through the door are probably nearer 500. Our Silver Swans and Adult classes of which there is a lot of crossover are a significant part of Nanfans. It is a huge responsibility to keep everyone safe and healthy and although I think Ballet is very important it is just not worth the risk. I also have a duty of care to Miss Charlotte who has been teaching our younger age groups and Miss Laura and Miss Grace who assist me in some of our classes.

I am aware that a number of students have underlying health issues, I myself am asthmatic, combined with many students having elderly and family members with medical conditions. Obviously we are always careful about hygiene at Nanfans but it would be almost impossible with so many people to be absolutely certain that we are completely safe.

I am also aware that Nanfans is our family home and this closure will allow me to do a deep clean of not only the studio and waiting room but all the props, yoga mats etc.

We were due to close in 2 weeks on Friday 27th March and are scheduled to re-open on Monday 20th April. All being well we will be opening then, and I will be adjusting fees and term dates for next term to make up for these 2 weeks. As we are all aware, this may change, but we will keep the website updated. Watching week will be re-arranged for early in the new term particularly for the younger classes.

I hope everyone stays healthy and safe during these unprecedented times. While you all practise your ballet at home, I will be using the time to start choreographing the show for November!
